CENOTE SACAMUCUY

OVERVIEW

Accompanied by the natural beauty, dive into the refreshing waters of Cenote Sacamucuy, where the underground rivers reveal shades ranging from emerald green to deep blue. This wonderful cenote, exclusive to Hacienda Temozón, features an impressive limestone ceiling with a diameter of approximately 20 meters and depths ranging from 2 to 35 meters. The adventure begins with a 2.5 km journey that you can enjoy on foot or by bicycle, following ancient rails that connected the Hacienda to the vast sisal plantations.

It was founded in 2002 in response to an initiative to recover traditional Mayan techniques through a training program led by the Fundación Haciendas del Mundo Maya (FHMM), which resulted in community self-management and business management projects. Traspatio Maya is a brand representing a network of rural producers established in the Yucatan Peninsula, dedicated to the sustainable production of salts, honeys, corn, and vegetables. It serves as a platform for accessing a fair-trade network, thanks to the various food procurement projects promoted by Fundación Haciendas del Mundo Maya (FHMM) that foster self-management and empowerment of the producers in this region. The artisanal food products available at Traspatio Maya have a triple impact on social, economic, and environmental levels, ensuring equitable labor and trade conditions and sustainable management that protects the natural and cultural resources of the peninsula.
