It was founded in 2002 in response to an initiative to recover traditional Mayan techniques through a training program led by the Fundación Haciendas del Mundo Maya (FHMM), which resulted in community self-management and business management projects. Traspatio Maya is a brand representing a network of rural producers established in the Yucatan Peninsula, dedicated to the sustainable production of salts, honeys, corn, and vegetables. It serves as a platform for accessing a fair-trade network, thanks to the various food procurement projects promoted by Fundación Haciendas del Mundo Maya (FHMM) that foster self-management and empowerment of the producers in this region. The artisanal food products available at Traspatio Maya have a triple impact on social, economic, and environmental levels, ensuring equitable labor and trade conditions and sustainable management that protects the natural and cultural resources of the peninsula.
